Not that serious until "Holland". Genting shareholders did not receive any Resorts World Bhd shares when it was spun off and listed back then; indirect benefits. What will Genting shareholders gain from GenM's privatization and its subsequent move? probably same2; indirect benefits. Back then, Resorts World Bhd which was later renamed to Genting Malaysia did very well the first few years of listing. It will be interesting to see what will be the subsequent move. No rush and can just wait from the sideline in my personal opinion.

The board has finally made things clearer. And the owners will be the main beneficiaries, just like in the past, if things go according to plan.

Unbelievable decisions. Let's see whether it will be that easy for the owners to take GenM private or minority shareholders will hold on to it to get a higher price? A higher price not bcos of RWNYC full casino license but considering the prospect of possible listing of US assets.

If Genm goes private and later lists in the US, will there still be limits on foreign ownership? What are the Malaysian laws for local assets listed overseas? Anyone knows?

no longer local assets, TN. It should be spin off of US assets and listing. Gaming companies probably has nothing to do with US national interests and hence, probably no foreign ownership. Genting shareholders or GenM shareholders will not get the US listed shares. Just like GenS. Its the owners that benefitted from the listing :)

I mean, for that local casino on the mountain, will there be some kind of protectionism..like “ketuanan”..to stop foreigners from owning more than 51%?

GenM shareholders have the short end of the straw. Substantial shareholders are the main beneficiaries :-)

Unlikely MY assets will be listed in US. I doubt US investors are interested to be the major owner of "GenUS" and major shareholders should be LKT's private vehicle still. Lets not forget the US assets are struggling over the years :)

its the owners to be exact, Daniel. Genting shareholders will not be given "GenUS" shares. Just like in the past when Resorts World Bhd was listed. The first step is to privatize GenM and take full control of GenM.

Correct. The “owners” :-)

He should totally spin up a new entity, call it GENUSA, just for the US assets, and let GENM chill on the Malaysian exchange. Local casinos won’t fly in the US anyway ...

Unlikely, TN. The structure will be complex due to minority shareholders. Cannot just spin off US assets from GenM to list it without having full control :) Need shareholders approval like special resolutions. Messy.

..how much vote is required for spin off? 75% for special resolutions? .... hahahaha ... i may overthink!

Will be interesting to see the outcome by the end of Nov on percentage of shareholdings held Genting Bhd and its PACs; whether it will cross the 75% and 90% threshold.

ideal move for the owner...Grab full control of GENM and spin off the US stuff into a new listed entity. Or, maybe just get like 75%(?) approval for a spin-off to list the US assets separately. Honestly.... the second option looks pretty doable hahaha! but bad to those who didn't sell..... let me keep this thought to myself... msg delete in 30min.

No no... 2nd option not possible. Its messy and balance sheet no longer balanced. Lol, no pun intended. RWLV is parked under Genting Berhad and all other US assets is parked under GenM. Spin-off these US assets means taking it out from the balance sheet which means selling it. The returns has to be given back to the shareholders :) So, not possible for 2nd option.

Its ironic that RWNYC willing to pay higher licensing fees to secure the full casino license but not willing to offer higher price to privatize GenM :)

Well, one good thing he did was stabilize GENM’s price at 2.35. Without the privatisation, it would probably have slipped back to the 2.10 range. Hahaha.

not sure about that. the hype of it will push it up :)
